God had Other Plans

by Kathy Moss

Psalm 23:6 Surely, goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all he days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  (NASB)

Have you ever stopped and looked back over the years and thought to yourself, “This is not what I pictured my life to be like?” I have done that in recent days and was surprised at what I saw. I realized that although I had experienced a lot of changes, not all ones I would have chosen for myself, that the Lord has been in the midst of it all. Not only did He bring me peace and comfort when I so desperately needed it, He gave me different circumstances to be able to enjoy life on a different level. He is constantly reminding me that he is always near and always will be. If I had lived the life, I had planned for myself, I would have missed out on some wonderful experiences. Not only have I been taught new things, but I have been able to pass on my knowledge to others along the way, just as others have helped me.

Is this not what we are supposed to do? Be faithful, trust the Lord with everything, and find the good in whatever happens. We may not understand it, we may not like it, but we have to know that the Lord is in control and that he knows best in every situation.

As I read my daily Bible reading today the 23rd Psalm was my assigned reading. It brought back to my mind how blessed I have been and continue to be. When this journey that I am now on ends and I begin a new life with Jesus in heaven, I can be assured that I did not make a single step without the Lord being at my side. Even in the death process He sends angels to take us home. What a comfort to know that He is true to His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us. So, if your life direction is not as you once thought it would be, look around. God had other plans. They are not wrong, simply different. Learn to enjoy the journey and be joyful.
