Remaining in the Presence of God Each Day

Have you noticed that the presence of the Lord sometimes seems fleeting?  There are days His presence is so evident, but there are days when He seems so far away.  There is a lot of truth in the old saying, “If God feels far away, guess who moved.  It wasn’t God.”  God is near to us.  He promises to be with us, not to forsake us.  We know that His omnipresence doesn’t limit him to one location at a time.  So, how can we remain each day in the presence of the Lord?

Outdoor Worship Guide, July 5

Happy 4th of July!  We are grateful to live in the greatest country on the planet.  We have our struggles, but we have our freedoms and dreams.  Let’s be thankful today for the blessings God has given us, but let us also pray for our country.  Let us pray for our leaders, government officials, military, law enforcement, first responders and our neighbors.  Ask the Lord to draw us back to Him in repentance and to heal our land.

Reconciliation and Mission

Written by Alan Foster, missionary in Panama

When Pastor Jeromy invited me to write on “reconciliation and our God-given task to be on mission,” it was cause for much self-reflection, so this is a letter to me.

When prompted, “What is God’s mission and how am I a part of it?” we may think immediately of the foreign mission field with cities full of idols and demonic strongholds or villages with hungry bellies, fear, and hopelessness… or we may think of our efforts closer to home to love our neighbor after a tornado or evangelize a co-worker. The simple answer is that God’s mission is to reconcile the world to himself. And the starting point for discovering God’s mission and God’s calling on my life is being reconciled to Him. (2 Cor. 5) And while reconciliations on earth with others can be drawn-out, messy, incomplete, or even humanly impossible, the beauty of the Gospel is the simplicity of reconciliation to Jesus. Just ask.

Outdoor Worship Guide, June 28

It is the final Sunday of June!  Can you believe it?  We are finishing our series, Reconcile.  We’ve seen God’s Mission to reconcile the world to Himself through Christ.  In Christ we are His representatives on earth, tasked with the ministry of reconciliation, joining God’s mission to share the Good News with others.  And this week, we will focus specifically on the message of reconciliation – the Gospel message.

Whatever It Takes

Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.  1 Corinthians 9:22-23

Imagine a world in which people lived right and honored one another.  Imagine that everyone, even orphans and the marginalized, knew the love of family and the sense of belonging.  Imagine a world free of sin, problems, and injustices.  Imagine never being afraid or anxious about anything, but always filled with peace and assurance.  Imagine a world in which you are always loved and forgiven.
