Whatever It Takes

Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.  1 Corinthians 9:22-23

Imagine a world in which people lived right and honored one another.  Imagine that everyone, even orphans and the marginalized, knew the love of family and the sense of belonging.  Imagine a world free of sin, problems, and injustices.  Imagine never being afraid or anxious about anything, but always filled with peace and assurance.  Imagine a world in which you are always loved and forgiven.

If a world like that were possible, would it be worth doing whatever it took to make it reality?  Would it be worth telling your kids about it, and helping them understand how to get there day after day?  If a world like that were possible, would anything keep you from helping your neighbor know about it?  Would you even want to know how a world like that is possible?

It is possible.  God is there now.  Jesus sits at His right hand in that place.  Jesus told his disciples that He would go there and prepare a place for them, that they would be with him (John 14:3).  Jesus promised to put an end to sin and injustice once and for all (Revelation 21:3-5).  Jesus satisfied the debt of our sin on the cross so that we would be spared the wrath of God, and instead be brought into a right relationship with God once again if we believe (1 John 2:2).

What great news!  There is a place like this!  There is a way for us to live in love, peace, justice, and joy.  Jesus has made a way for us to be there with Him.  This is the Gospel message – God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).  Its worth sharing with others, don’t you think?

Paul told the Corinthian church that he would do whatever it took to help others know the Gospel of Jesus.  Paul craved for others to be saved and share in the blessings of this gospel.  He found common ground with anyone so they would hear the good news.  He would forsake traditions and personal preferences if they hindered others from hearing the truth of God’s love.

I believe God wants to do a great work here.  God desires that people repent and be saved.  God’s desire for us is demonstrated in sending His own Son for us.  He sent His Son, Jesus, to bear the punishment and pay the price of our sin that we would be forgiven.  Jesus came to prepare a place for us.  He came that we would be with Him in that place forever.

What are you willing to do to help others hear the gospel, and be saved?
